Besides conducting executive development
programmes and research studies, the staff of the Centre also
provide consulting support to client organizations in the
selected areas of management and development of organizations.
As a specialized institution, our consulting work is primarily
in the areas of strategy, structure, culture, behaviour, team
building, management of change and the processes of improving
productivity, competitiveness and organizational effectiveness.
Since its inception, the Centre has provided
consulting support to about 40 organizations. In the early
years, one of the important assignments involved designing
an organization structure for the newly established Export
Import Bank of India. The Centre has also conducted a number
of diagnostic studies for different organizations, such as
Dalmia Cement (B), Ester Industries, Grasim Cement, Jaiprakash
Industries etc.
During the 80's, the Centre provided consulting
support to TELCO, Jamshedpur, for the target setting process
and to a number of departments/corporations of the Government
of Gujarat, for Management by Objectives. In 1988, The UNICEF
Regional Office, Bangkok, utilized our consulting support
for a study on improving role effectiveness of the regional
office.

Between 1987 and 1996, the
Centre provided consulting support to the Steel Authority
of India (SAIL) for turn around, consolidation, growth and
global competitiveness. The Centre was also associated with
the process of turn around in the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam. In
1995, the Centre did a study on the organization structure
for marketing for Crompton Greaves, and in 1997, it examined
the top management structure for Wockhardt Limited, in the
context of globalization of its business. In 1995, an institutional
development study was conducted for AP Forest Dept. A similar
study was done for Kerala Forest Dept 2001.
From time to time, the professional
staff of the Centre also offers process consulting for various
facets of organization development, including team building,
planning and problem solving for improving productivity and
performance and diagnosis and action planning for enhancing
competitiveness and effectiveness.
